Instead of a new episode this week, we got episode titles for the back half of the season. I thought it would be fun to try to guess what will be happening in the episodes. Lots of wild woman guessing but here we go!
6.08-The Old Man and the Anomaly. This one is probably the easiest to figure out. The Old Man’s identity will be revealed (still think it’s Gabriel) and the Anomaly will be fully explained. Gabriel’s life after leaving Sanctum is seemingly tied to the Anomaly so we might get that part of the story here too. I also think that Octavia and Diyoza are going to get caught up in it. IMDb is not the most reliable resource in the world but a character named Hope is listed for the episode. Diyoza is planning to name her daughter Hope so I’m thinking time will accelerate a bit for them.
6.09-What You Take With You. Tough one! Maybe it relates to what people take from their experiences?
6.10-Matryoshka. I had to Google this. Matryoshka are the Russian nesting dolls and metaphorically speaking, they represent family legacy and fertility as well as the unity between the mind, body, and soul (Wikipedia). Fade of the Internet raised an interesting question about whether the Primes still have souls. The memories and personalities that make up their minds may just be a system of impulses contained in the drive (only took 32 years but there’s your answer, Bart!). The souls of the Primes could have “moved on” after they died the first time. The mind of the Prime takes over the host brain but the host soul could be trapped in the body until it dies . We know that 6.07 centers around Clarke facing her past so it may be her soul taking that journey. 6.10 could center on Clarke’s soul fighting Josephine’s mind for control of her body which could end in a merger of sorts. Clarke returns but has all of Josephine’s intelligence. Somehow, though, I don’t think that would be the last of Josephine.
6.11-Ashes to Ashes (directed by Bob Morley). Rothenberg mentioned during the pre-season that Bellamy is featured heavily in this episode which made directing extra challenging for Bob. Ashes to ashes (as in “ashes to ashes, dust to dust”) seems to indicate a major character death. Could be Kane but if Bellamy is a huge part of this episode, it might be someone like Echo or Octavia. Word is that this episode is supposed to focus on Echo’s backstory so maybe she’s the one to die. It’s possible that it’s a metaphorical thing where Echo is putting her past to rest once and for all. Also, the Blodreina vs Octavia fight could occur here as representation of Octavia moving forward. A Bellamy/Octavia reconciliation may follow.
6.12-Adjustment Protocol. This one’s hard too! If Josephine is still around at this point, I’m thinking Russell and Simone will finally realize how dangerous she is. A contingency plan might be unleashed which would change how Sanctum is run. I really don’t know!
6.13-The Blood of Sanctum. Sanctum is getting destroyed one way or another! For the last couple of seasons, the last few minutes of the finale have teed up the next season by introducing a new problem or obstacle. I’m thinking this where a “once in a blue moon” catastrophe could into play. Maybe the Anomaly becomes super charged and engulfs everything at the very end of the episode just like Praimfaya. Rothenberg has said that this finale would not be a satisfying series finale so there will be loose ends for sure.
I tried! Until next time!
Oh I LOVE this post idea! I was giddy excited when I saw Matryoshka, because I am so fascinated with Russian stuff- and I have a couple of these dolls that I bought IN actual Russia, and I just. I have also seen some discussion that they represent motherhood, which could be a Diyoza-heavy episode.
Absolutely agree with you about 608- it’s gotta be the story of Gabriel. We still don’t know SO much about him and how his people came to be and I cannot WAIT.
For 609, What You Take With You, I feel like it’ll be almost about what we take with us when we die? But I think your theory works too- and it could even be BOTH of those things!
6×11, that sounds ominoussss. Though I DO wonder if it is more metaphorical and they’re just messing with us hahah. And one of the “nicer” sounding episodes will be where they kill our faves (ðŸ˜) I am fascinated that 6×12 and 13 aren’t P1 and P2- the only other time that happened was Praimfaya, and the world ending. Which leads me to believe that you’re right about the end of Sanctum in 613. But the “not satisfying” thing is killing me! Though- did you see that S7 is going to have 16 episodes!? Sounds like it’ll be epic! I REALLY hope it isn’t the last, but…. wouldn’t The CW have announced it like all the other shows? GAH I am tortured hahah.
I like the Diyoza/motherhood angle for Matryoshka. Could get some Abby focus with that too. I’m very excited to find out about how Gabriel built his movement and if there are any more “moles” inside Sanctum. Your thought about 6.09 might fit better with this death vs immortality thread they have going but both ideas fit with the Face Your Demons tagline. As much as I would prefer none of our favs dying, you’re probably right in that it’ll happen in an episode with a “tamer” name (or in 6.13).
I did see that S7 is going to be 16 episodes! I’m excited that the show is going to make it to episode 100. It would be poetic to end there but S6 has opened up so much potential. Two seasons for Book 2 isn’t enough! The CW didn’t say final season so I’m thinking Jason is banking on getting an 8th season.
