The full trailer is here at last! It looks tense and completely insane. I have more questions than theories on this one. Let’s jump in!
Mourning. Abby’s death is a loss unlike any other for Clarke. Even when she lost her dad, she still had her mom. Now, she no longer has her parents.. She’s not going to be able to push it aside so easily and I think it’s going to influence some of her choices in the meantime. Most notably, the decision to put Russell to death. She still has Madi so her will to live likely isn’t going away.
No reason to live. With more context, I think the “death” Russell needs is his own. His will to live is gone now that his whole family is permanently dead. Josephine and Simone were the reasons he pursued the whole resurrection business in the first place. Without them, life is pointless for Russell. Clarke would be more than happy to fulfill his need but she’s not going to. In the scene where Russell tells her they want the same thing, he doesn’t have the gold leaf on his forehead. That makes me think that scene took place later than the one where she points the gun at him. In a way, Clarke and Russell are going through the same thing in that now they have to navigate life without their family members. They also caused each other’s losses
Like family. It looks like Diyoza and Octavia settled down wherever the Anomaly brought them and raised Hope together. Seems like they were happy (or as happy as characters can be on this show) but at some point, Octavia decided she needed to go back and reconnect/reconcile with Bellamy. That may go a long way in explaining why Octavia came out of the Anomaly and Diyoza didn’t. Wherever they ended up, they made an enemy because “he” has Diyoza and those triangle helmeted people were chasing her. Of course, there’s the question of whether or not Octavia is dead. Signs point to no because I think she’s seen with Clarke and Hope in the trailer. I think Diyoza might die because we see Hope screaming and trying to get through a door.
Wormhole. So, they just come right out and say the Anomaly is a wormhole. Ok, we’ve got something! It looks like the wormhole facilitates travel between 6 worlds, including Alpha. Jordan appears to be staying behind while Raven, Clarke, Gaia, Miller, and Niylah are transported to a frozen world. I’m guessing they’re going to try to find Gabriel, Echo, Octavia, and Hope. Gabriel, Echo, and Hope probably went after Octavia. Three of the symbols on the screen in front of Jordan resemble DNA fragments. Two look like atomic structures and one is a Phoenix. Are these symbols of how hospitable or advanced the world is? Is the Phoenix world the ultimate destination? Are they some kind of “ancient crests”?
Who or what is this last war against? The triangle helmeted people coming out of the Anomaly are there to recruit Clarke and company for the “last war mankind will ever wage.” I’m interested to know who they’re fighting against. Are the other five worlds at war with each other and the bald guy wants the people from Planet (Moon) Alpha to help his world? Or is it more of an existential enemy? Maybe it’s the Anomaly itself? The Anomaly has been hostile so maybe the war is to figure out how to control it. Either way, it appears that Russell and Clarke will eventually work together.
Like father, like son. Monty was more of a peacemaker than a fighter and it looks like Jordan will taking up that mantle this season. His line, “The answer to all this violence isn’t just more violence”, effectively sums up that role. Jordan will probably be the intermediary between Clarke and Russell. Jordan will also be against fighting whatever this last war is if it’s between factions of humans.
Who they are. Clarke says she worries that fighting is what they are. Russell may have had this in mind when he told her that he didn’t think they could change. That could be a commentary on humankind as a whole in that violence is human nature and lasting peace is unobtainable. Sanctum may not have had a lot of physical violence but in a way, brainwashing is a form of violence. I’m thinking one of the overall questions this season is whether our heroes will ever get to peace.
Is radiation going to become an issue? There are a few shots of people succumbing to radiation poisoning. Prior to one of the shots, Raven is screaming at someone to “get out of there now”. The synopsis for 7.03 mentions Raven facing an unexpected threat. I’m wondering if the unexpected threat has to do with radiation and some volunteers are helping her test something. It could be why that girl is punching her.
Sheidheda will take over Russell. No explicit references to Sheidheda in the trailer but this shot of Russell is the look of someone possessed. At the end of last season, Sheidheda uploaded into the Eligius IV’s systems. The mind drives might be linked to the ship somehow which would allow Sheidheda to take someone over. It could stop at Russell but maybe Sheidheda will move through everyone with a mind drive. That means Clarke, Emori, and Murphy would also be vulnerable. Clarke vs Sheidheda would be something to behold.
Other things. Raven hasn’t had time to get back to the cryo hair salon so it’s back to the ponytail! Murphy’s stepping up into a leadership role. Whoever’s got the gun to his head, though, might be related to Daniel. Looks like they found Cadogan and he’s suffering from isolation madness. Echo looks to have red blood again although it could be someone else’s blood. She also has the symbols on her forehead that are similar to the ones that were on Octavia’s back. Wonder where those came from and if they have to do with the guys probing Octavia’s mind. Hold up…maybe the Octavia that came out of the Anomaly was an avatar they sent? Just a wild guess. The Anomaly might still engulf everything like I thought last season. We’ll see.

YAY I am so excited and scared for this season! I have NO idea what to make of the trailer/what is going on, so I am thrilled to read your theories! I didn’t want to read until I finished my own post because I wanted to be authentically clueless 😂 But I am just LOST. I loved your line “Raven hasn’t had time to get back to the cryo hair salon so it’s back to the ponytail!” Bwhahah unfortunate since her hair was on POINT in S6. I just need to know where Bellamy is! Clearly from the small scene of him we get, it looks like he’s dragged away before he even gets much of a chance to look for O. I have to wonder too how far the trailer showed. Was it just the first four episodes like the screeners? Or did we see further along? I kind of hope not, I am actually loving the whole “going in blind” concept, and I think (knock on wood) I have been able to stay away from spoilers so far!
Sheidheda taking over Russell is a good theory. I assumed they’d be working together to hijack others but I like your theory better! And CADOGAN I cannot wait! I also hope you’re wrong about Diyoza, but I also think you’re right. Which will REALLY bum me out. But it is The 100 after all! Loved reading your thoughts here, cannot wait for Wednesday!
